Announcements
Week 16
Woohoo!! We’re so excited to see what you have to show off starting tomorrow :) Please read below for some pertinent end-of-term information.
Grades:
- Projects 3 & 4 have been graded and published.
- Homework 5 has been graded (solutions can be found here)
- All regrade requests are due Sun 5/11 11:59pm
Final Projects Showcase:
- Please check your showcase slot here, as it may have changed.
- Though the food forms may have still been open, if you filled it out later than 5/1 11:59pm, your order was not placed.
- Invite your friends and family to Showcase! If they can’t be there in person, you can share this Zoom link with them instead.
- Meeting ID: 937 0556 5480
- Passcode: showcase
- Please note that your noted estimated start time is just that–an estimate. You should let your guests know that you may be presenting earlier or later than the indicated time.
- This should, however, not matter for you personally! As a reminder, you are required to be at the entirety of your Showcase block. Showcase does not start on Berkeley time.
- Please submit your slides link by 11:59pm. You must also verify that the slides AND any videos are viewable by anyone at UC Berkeley.
- Please fill out this form by 11:59pm tonight! Only one member per team needs to fill it out.
- Your slides do not have to be complete by 11:59pm tonight–just share the link to the presentation.
- Please note: Failure to share slides and adjust permission settings as requested will impact your grade. If you do not share the link to the slides, you will not have slides as a resource during your presentation. If the videos are not shared, you will not be given a chance to change those settings while presenting and will have to forego showing the videos. This will almost definitely result in a lower final project score.
We’re very excited to see what you’ve been working on!
Week 15
Can you believe we’re already in the last week of classes?! How incredible!
Grades:
- Homeworks 3 and 4 have been graded
- Project 2 has been graded.
- All regrade requests are due by Friday 5/2 11:59pm
Final Projects:
- Please see this Ed post for Showcase schedule, food forms, and software/hardware request forms and deadlines
General:
- Please join us for our final lecture tomorrow, April 29, which will be a guest lecture from Giuseppe Loianno!
- Professor Giuseppe Loianno, an expert on UAVs and swarms of UAVs, in particular, will be joining the EECS faculty as of July 1, 2025 moving to UC Berkeley from the Tandon School of Engineering at NYU. His lab will be on the 3rd floor of Cory Hall. In the last EECS 106B/206B class on April 29th he will give an overview of his recent work on swarms of UAVs and his research plans going forward.
- We know so many of you are interested in UAVs, and we’re so lucky to have Prof. Loianno share his exciting work with us. Please help us give him a warm Berkeley welcome!
- There will also be a sweet treat in tomorrow’s lecture to help you power through this last week of classes :)
- Interested in learning more about robotics in academia and industry? Check out “Innovating Tomorrow: Robotics & AI for Global Impact,” which will take place on May 2nd at Cal. Find out more here.
Week 14
Woah! Week 14 already? We’re really in the home stretch now!
Projects:
- Please check this Ed post for the feedback form for Project 4: Grasping, which is worth 5 points of extra credit.

General:
- Did you love 106A and are having a blast in 106B? Let us know if you’re interested in joining course staff next fall!
- Please indicate your interest as quickly as possible, as we will likely hold interviews in the next few weeks before term ends.
- Are you not necessarily interested in teaching, but interested in working with some robots over the summer? We may need help refreshing our labs this summer, so let us know on this form!

Discussion:
- Discussion this week has been canceled. There are no more discussion sections this term.
Final Projects:
- Proposal feedback will be released tonight. Please click through all the components of your grade as your TAs may have left feedback on different parts of the assignment.

General:
- This week’s lectures will be delivered by Prof. Koushil Sreenath, who occasionally teaches 106A. He will be discussing legged robots. He’s a great lecturer with lots of insights, so come out to see what he has to say!
- We’re doing a lot of thinking about how to best serve our 106B students. Please take some time to fill out this form sharing your thoughts and experiences this term.
- The form is entirely anonymous, so feel free to share your honest thoughts freely. We really benefit from your feedback!
- As an incentive, we are offering 0.5% extra credit for students who fill out the form and submit a screenshot of the final page to Gradescope. (After submitting, it will remind you to take a screenshot of the page and submit). Please submit by 4/18.

- Did you enjoy last week’s lectures from Kunal and Dvij? Express your interest in getting involved here!
- Are you interested in research this summer? Check out this Ed post!
Week 12
Oh boy, we’re in the thick of it now!
Projects:
- As a friendly reminder, Project 4: Grasping has been released. It is much less hand-holdy than your previous projects, so we highly recommend you start as soon as possible. It is due 4/17.
Homework:
- Homeworks 1 and 2 grades have been published. Regrade requests are due by Sat 4/12 11:59pm.
- Homework 5: Grasping is due 4/15 at 11:59pm
If your solution has not been awarded points because you did not select pages, you must select them before submitting a regrade request, lest the graders will ignore your request.

Week 11
Welcome back from spring break! We hope you were able to do whatever filled your cup, whether it be something fun or something restful.
Journal Club:
- A gentle reminder that Journal Club attendance is a graded component of your grade.
Projects:
- Project 4 is will come out this week and will be the last prescribed project
Homework:
- Homework 5: Grasping - due on 04/15
Please select pages when submitting your homework. Failure to select pages when submitting a regrade request will result in those problems not being graded.
Final Projects:
- Your final project proposal is due this Friday!
- We will be changing the distribution of points for the final project because we’re adding a check-in. This check-in will be due 4/21 to make sure you’re on track for your final project.
- This check in will be worth 5% of your final project grade, and the report will now be worth 55% instead of 60%
- We will update the guidelines with this change soon.
- Our expectation is that students will conduct a more in-depth literature review and begin final project work in parallel with Project 4.
